Two women who owned eight dogs that attacked a North Portland woman walking near a homeless campsite were charged with multiple counts, including maintaining dangerous dogs. The attack occurred on July 15, 2024, and resulted in horrific injuries to Mytoka Petry, a mother of two. Petry lost her left arm, an ear and part of her lips. Medical staff reported she had puncture wounds on all her limbs. Petry nearly died from blood loss after the attack and had to be rushed to Emanuel Hospital where life-saving measures were undertaken.

Two other people were injured when they tried to stop the attack: Ms. Petry’s brother, Charles Petry, and his girlfriend, Megan Pereira. Both had minor injuries. Charles Petry told police that his sister had come to visit him at the encampment where he was staying.
The camp was located in the St. Johns neighborhood near N. Columbia Blvd. and N. Upland Dr., about two blocks northwest of George Middle School.
The owner of five of the dogs, described as pitbull-great dane mixes, was Alexandria Marie Hendon. She was arrested on Sunday, March 9, and arraigned on March 11, where she pled not guilty to the charges.

The owner of the other three dogs, Cierra Graham, was also charged and currently has a warrant out for her arrest. Both women stayed at the homeless encampment on and off. At the time of the attack, Hendon was visiting a nearby apartment.
After recovering for three months in the hospital, Mytoka Petry told police that on the day of the attack, there were approximately eight dogs, and that they followed her and started to attack in a frenzy as she entered the camp. She reported that she had seen the dogs before and that they were never on leash.
Multnomah County Animal Services in Troutdale has been holding the dogs since July and has taken ownership of them.
Mytoka Petry’s family and friends have started a GoFundMe to raise $80,000 to pay for her medical bills and rehabilitation. That fund is now at over $72,000.
