The University of Portland announced a $20-million anonymous gift—one of the largest in the school’s 120-year history. The donor family has multi-generational ties to the University including twelve members with UP degrees.

The gift will support the University’s priorities of enhancing student access, supporting academic excellence, and strengthening student formation.

The donor family chose to remain anonymous in order to “keep the focus on the important work happening at the University and the countless students who will be impacted,” school representatives reported.

The family explained, “With our gift, we aim to make the UP experience sustainable and accessible to even more students, because the world needs more Pilots to lead, serve, and inspire.” University President Robert D. Kelly praised the donation as an “expression of confidence in our vision, our mission, our momentum, and our Catholic, Holy Cross identity.”
