Seven Kenton businesses were at least temporarily closed after an Aug. 15, fire swept through the 2700 block of N. Lombard St.
Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) crews responded just before noon to the blaze that began inside Boom Boom Balloons, a party supply business at 2729 N. Lombard St. One connected storefront was totaled, at least two others had some fire and water damage and all six side-by-side storefronts had smoke damage. There were no injuries.

First-alarm crews found fire bursting from the front door of Boom Boom Balloons upon their arrival. They were able to contain the blaze although the storefront was destroyed. Walgreens was the furthest store away from the blaze and had a “closed” sign on its doors by Friday afternoon the day of the fire.
The owner of the adjoining Flip Flop Games store, John Reyes, said that his business suffered serious smoke and water damage.
PF&R officials have not determined the cause of the fire, although Reyes said that an arson investigator had been on the scene.
