Fish on! Win prizes and learn more about which fish from our river are safe and unsafe to eat

Fishing Tournament on the Willamette River 2025

On Saturday, June 28, 9 am-2 pm you can join a family-friendly fishing outing on the Willamette River at the Cathedral Park swimming/fishing dock.

If you’re new to fishing, this is a great way to try it. Fishing experts will be there to help, and we’ll have limited loaner gear available on a first-come, first-served basis. You’ll learn about fishing, and which fish are okay and not okay to eat from the river.

Everyone is welcome. There is no registration, just show up. The event is sponsored by the Multnomah County Health Department.

What to Bring

  • Your own pole and tackle (limited loaner gear available)
  • Fishing license for ages 12+
  • Life jackets advised for children and non-swimmers
  • Picnic lunch

Cost

A fishing license is required for everyone 12 years old and up.

The license fee may be waived for youth 17 and under if they participate in a short educational activity led by ODFW before fishing. Buy a license here.

Directions

Ride the bus to Cathedral Park and follow the path towards the river to the dock.
