Former Rite Aid to become a veterans shelter

The former Rite Aid store at N. Denver Avenue and N. Lombard Street currently owned by Multnomah County is soon to become a veterans’ shelter. The building, in the Arbor Lodge neighborhood, will reopen in 2024 after being closed for a year.

The $9-million project will expand the facility to serve 106 people. The nonprofit, Do Good Multnomah, will manage the shelter that will focus on helping North Portland veterans. The low-barrier shelter will allow homeless vets with pets and behavioral conditions. Do Good Multnomah has placed 167 veterans into permanent housing since 2019.
