Linnton’s River Trail progresses

Plans for a long-awaited River Trail to connect the Linnton community to its riverfront appears to be making progress.

The River Trail Committee has filed and Early Assistance Application with the City. That starts the process of planning for the project. It included drawings of two alternative versions of the trail. There is a proposed observation platform at the south end of the trail and a staircase down the beach on the north end.

There are still legal, regulatory, technical, and budgetary issues to address at this early stage in the process so the suggested designs may not be included in the final plan.

The project has received strong support from legislators and was endorsed by city officials including Parks Commissioner, Dan Ryan. It is reasonable to hope that given such support, the project will progress and Linntonites will soon be strolling on their riverfront.
