St. Johns activist, Caroline Skinner, reports that there was a delightful mini-protest in the St. Johns Plaza before the big No Kings march in downtown Portland. The local gathering had lots of children and families in attendance. “It started at 10 am and wrapped up around 10:45. Weather was fine and spirits were high.” Many of the participants then boarded buses headed to the larger rally.
Reports on the No Kings march in the Portland city center indicate the total number of participants may have been as high as 50,000, as stated by Mayor Keith Wilson. The march was part of a broader, nationwide day of demonstrations against the Trump administration. Organizers for the nationwide No Kings movement claimed nearly 7 million participants across the country.
