Portland police are releasing few details about their investigation into two deceased males found at a North Portland recycling facility on separate days in early January.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, homicide detectives were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Hunt St. after the first body was found on Jan. 5 and the second body was found on Feb. 9. The Jan. 12 press release said there was no immediate threat to the public.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner is working to determine the identities of the two men and the causes of their deaths, PPB said.

KGW-TV News reported the location was the site of the WM Portland Recycling Center, a sophisticated new $47 million recycling center built by Waste Management on four acres adjacent to the Columbia Slough, just east of I-5. City records list the current owner as WASTECH Inc. of Chicago.

In response to a question from the North Peninsula Review, PPB would not say whether the bodies were found in the slough.

According to Waste Management, the state-of-the-art WM Portland Recycling Facility uses AI to better process recyclables collected from nearly 195,000 households and businesses in Oregon.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about the case to contact homicidetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 26-7892.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.
