Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is offering residents a virtual presentation highlighting the completed plan for the Willamette Boulevard Corridor Active Transportation Project. The walkthrough will be followed by live Q&A. There are two different times for the presentation, Jan. 22, 6:30 to 7:30 pm and Jan. 23, 12-1pm. Registration is required.
The corridor changes are between N. Rosa Parks Way and N. Richmond Ave. While the design work is mostly complete, minor adjustments and corrections are still possible prior to construction.
These sessions will be recorded and posted online for those unable to attend. Updated visuals and presentation materials have are posted on the project website.

Changes to Willamette Boulevard include:
(see illustrations below)
Protected bike lanes:
Protected bike lanes create a physically separate facility for bicyclists within the same right-of-way as general vehicle traffic. These facilities are some of the safest infrastructure options for cyclists since they reduce potential conflicts between bicyclists and other transportation modes.
More frequent, safer crossings:
Based on the PedPDX Plan and Vision Zero Strategy this project will add new, frequently spaced pedestrian crossings along the entire stretch of the Willamette Blvd. especially near bus stops.
Safer vehicle speeds:
In addition to reducing the speed limit along the entire corridor from 30mph to 25mph ahead of project delivery, PBOT plans to add fire-friendly speed cushions to the entire project footprint (N Richmond Avenue to N. Rosa Parks Way).
Better bus stops:
Some will be upgraded with ADA improvements, shelters and benches.
On-Street Parking Removal and Mitigation:
The plan removes nearly all the on-street parking space on N. Willamette Blvd. from Rosa Parks Way to Richmond Ave. as part of this project. PBOT found that alternatives such as off-street parking is plentiful along N. Willamette Blvd. Nearly all properties have access to driveways, alleys, or side streets.
