St. Johns Farmers Market Is Back with Extended Season

The St. Johns Farmers Market (SJFM) is excited to kick off its 16th season on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

The market will be open 9 am-2 pm every Saturday from May 4 through November 23, the weekend before Thanksgiving. There will also be a Holiday Market on Saturday, December 14, from 10 am-2 pm. The market is held at the corner of N. Charleston Ave. and N Central St, next to the St. Johns Bachelor Club.

In 2023, SJFM experienced an exciting increase in customer attendance, vendor sales, and the distribution of food access funds fueling increased vendor attendance and a more vibrant market presence.

Free food access programs, including a produce match for SNAP and EBT Cash and a partnership with St. Johns-based organization Suma, support SJFM’s mission of providing equitable access to locally-grown, healthy, culturally-relevant food to residents facing food insecurity and contributing to the health of all local residents.

With a full vendor roster for the 2024 season, including new and returning vendors spanning local, sustainably-grown agriculture, artisan food, and handmade arts and crafts, SJFM is well-poised to build on the successes of 2023. Some exciting new products at the market this year include organically grown vegetables and quail eggs from Tiny Acre, a St. Johns-based small scale organic farm; breakfast burritos from Poblano Pepper Mexican Food; and plant-based, farmer-forward pastries and treats from Poppy Shop.

“We are so excited to kick off the 2024 season of the St. Johns Farmers Market and continue serving small businesses, customers, and community members,” said Julia Preszler, market manager. “Farmers markets really are a win-win-win.”

St. Johns Farmers Market proudly offers Double Up Food Bucks and Produce Match and will be matching up to $20 in SNAP/EBT Cash per household per market day. To redeem, SNAP customers can bring their Oregon Trail card to the Information Booth at the market. All are welcome at the St. Johns Farmers Market.

SJFM wishes to thank its generous sponsors: Prosper Portland, iQ Credit Union, Farmers Market Fund, East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District, United States Department of Agriculture, New Seasons, St. Johns Bachelor Club, and St. Johns Church.

St. Johns Farmers Market is a program of St. Johns Center for Opportunity.
